How to use
Swipe a thick layer onto your nose, cheekbones and the tops of your ears before you head out. Leave it white, so you can see your coverage.

How to use it
Where it goes, and how
Zinc works best as a visible layer on the spots that burn first.

Step 1: Swipe it on thick
Swipe a solid stripe down your nose, across your cheekbones and along the tops of your ears. You should be able to see it.

Step 2: Leave it white
Don't rub it in. The white layer shows you exactly where you're covered, and when it starts to wear off.

Step 3: Top it up
Reapply at least every 2 hours, and straight after swimming, towelling or sweating.
Tip
The stick is made for small, high-burn spots. For arms, legs and shoulders, pair it with a body sunscreen like Pure Zinc SPF 50.

White zinc stick questions
Is the White Zinc Stick waterproof?
No sunscreen is waterproof. It's 4 hours water resistant, which is why surfers use it for long sessions. Reapply straight after swimming, towelling or sweating, and at least every 2 hours.
What does SPF 50+ mean?
SPF 50+ is the highest SPF category on UK sunscreen labels: very high protection against UVB. The White Zinc Stick is also broad spectrum, so it protects against UVA too. No sunscreen blocks 100% of UV, so use shade, clothing and a hat as well.
Is it mineral only?
No. It combines zinc oxide with three other UV filters: octocrylene, diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate and ethylhexyl triazone. If you want mineral only, choose Pure Zinc SPF 50, which uses 25% non-nano zinc oxide.
Is it reef safe?
It contains no oxybenzone or octinoxate, but because it uses other UV filters as well as zinc, we don't call it reef safe. Our Pure Zinc range, which uses only non-nano zinc oxide, is our reef safe choice.
Can kids use it?
Yes, from 6 months old. Keep babies under 6 months out of direct sun. Kids often prefer our colour sticks, and they count towards your mix & match saving.
How long does one stick last?
It depends how thick you go and how often you reapply. You want a visible layer, so regular surfers and cricketers keep a spare in the bag. Two sticks save 10%, four save 20%.
Does it contain fragrance or parabens?
There's no fragrance (parfum) in the ingredient list, and it's paraben free. You'll find the full list under Full ingredients, near the top of this page.
Will it mark my clothes or wetsuit?
Zinc can mark fabric. Let it set before you get changed, and pre-treat any marks before washing.
How do I take it off?
Use an oil or balm cleanser to break it down, then wash with your usual cleanser.
