Zinc oxide, the key ingredient in zinc oxide sunscreen, is a naturally occurring mineral that has been used in sun protection for centuries. This versatile compound works by physically blocking and scattering UV radiation, creating a protective barrier on the skin's surface. Unlike chemical sunscreens that absorb UV rays, zinc oxide reflects and deflects them, ensuring broad-spectrum coverage against both UVA and UVB rays. Zinc oxide sunscreen provides a gentle and yet highly effective protection from the sun and is an excellent way to safeguard your skin from UV damage. If you’ve had issues with stinging eyes, breakouts, or greasy residue from conventional sunscreens, it may be time to switch to the mineral sunscreen for face. Our zinc sticks are lightweight, breathable, and packed with skin-calming ingredients, making them ideal for everyday use. Zinc oxide sunscreen uses a naturally occurring mineral, zinc oxide, as its sun filter. Our Pure Zinc range uses 25% non-nano zinc oxide for broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection, with no chemical sun filters.

Is zinc sunscreen good for sensitive skin?

Our Pure Zinc range is fragrance free, paraben free and suitable for all skin types.

Is Sun Zapper safe for kids?

Yes. Our zinc sunscreens are safe for children over 6 months. Try Kids Pure Zinc for little ones.

Will it leave a white cast?

Our Pure Zinc creams rub in clear. Our zinc sticks are different: they're made to be seen, so apply them thickly for proper coverage.

How water resistant is it?

Pure Zinc creams are 80 minutes water resistant. Our Extreme zinc sticks and lotions are 4 hours water resistant. Reapply after swimming, towelling or sweating.

Why do you call Pure Zinc reef safe?

Our Pure Zinc products are zinc-only formulations. They contain no chemical UV filters such as oxybenzone or octinoxate, which are often linked with coral reef damage. There's no single official reef-safe test, so we want to be clear about why we use the term.

Do I need sunscreen on cloudy days?

Yes. UV passes through cloud, so check the UV index and protect your skin whenever it's 3 or above.
